Sridharan Sriram brings vast coaching experience to Chennai Super Kings
Earlier, Sriram has worked with multiple teams at the highest level. He served as Australia’s assistant coach from 2016 to 2022. In 2022, he took up a T20 consultant position with Bangladesh for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.
The former Indian all-rounder’s IPL journey continued in 2023 when he joined Lucknow Super Giants as an assistant coach for IPL 2024. He also worked with Bangladesh as a technical consultant before the ODI World Cup. Earlier in his career, he was also part of the Delhi Daredevils’ coaching setup.

With his wealth of experience and deep understanding of the game in white-ball cricket, Chennai Super Kings will hope Sriram’s expertise strengthens their bowling attack as they aim to make a strong comeback after they failed to qualify for the playoffs of the last season.
Sriram to work with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja
Notably, Sridharan Sriram represented India in eight ODIs and had short IPL stints with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2010 and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2011. Sriram will take charge of CSK’s star-studded spin attack, featuring Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, along with promising talents Shreyas Gopal of India and Noor Ahmad of Afghanistan.
CSK will begin their IPL 2025 journey with a high-profile clash against long-time rivals Mumbai Indians at their home ground—MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23. The IPL 2025 will begin on March 22 with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Notably, Chennai Super Kings narrowly missed the playoffs last season, finishing fifth with seven wins and seven losses in their 14 group matches. Despite having the same 14 points as fourth-placed RCB, CSK fell short due to a lower net run rate, missing out on a spot in the top four.
