Shakur Stevenson is convinced that Challenger Floyd Schofield may pull out of their fight on February 22nd, using some excuse that he’s dreamed up to squirm out of the match.
WBC lightweight champion Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) says Team Schofield’s accusations that he has a spy in the camp to learn secrets, that he slashes tires, and that he messes with his passport are all signs that he’s going to pull out.
Shakur Predicts Pull-Out
It’s not a good idea for Stevenson to continue to discuss his unproven theory of Kid Austin pulling out of the fight because he’s talking down the match, and that’ll make fans lose interest. He needs to talk about the fight and try and get fans excited about it.
Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) doesn’t seem scared of Stevenson, though, and he sounds confident that he’s going to be able to walk him down and put a beating on the light-hitting champion. We don’t know how well Shakur is going to hold up in the fight because he’s coming off of surgery on his right hand, and he still wasn’t using that hand last week in training.
“It just seems to me that they’re trying to get out of the fight. They’re saying, ‘He did all this,’ and then when they don’t show up to the fight, it’ll be an excuse. They’ll try to blame me and say something that I did. Some fake s*** to put out of the fight,” said Shakur Stevenson to Cigar Talk about Floyd Schofield and his dad.
“I don’t have to. We’re dealing with Kid Austin. I already seen him fight. He’s going to throw a big hard left hand,” said Shakur when asked about the claims Team Schofield made about them believing Stevenson has spies trying to get information about their training methods.
“He’s [Schofield] going to switch, and then throw the hard left hand over the top. He’s going to throw a hard left hook. His right hand ain’t really s***. It’s science. Nothing new is going to happen. He’s not going to beat nobody else,” said Shakur.
It would be interesting to know if Shakur really believes Schofield is trying to get out of the fight, as that suggests that his beliefs aren’t based on reality. Stevenson isn’t a good judge of people, as it’s obvious that Kid Austin isn’t going to pull out of the fight and is looking at this as his big opportunity. The money is good, and it’s Floyd’s chance to turn himself into a star by winning.
Is Schofield Scared?
“I don’t need to do any extracurricular s*** to take advantage of that. I think he’s scared, and I’m starting to get scared of the fact that he might pull out of the fight. I’m training my a** off, signed, and then you guys pull out of the fight. That’s some b*** a** s*** bro,” said Shakur.
“I don’t even got to watch tape [of Schofield]. I already seen him. I know what to expect,” said Shakur.
