Turki Alalshikh reiterated today that he hopes to make a fight between Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. He wants to negotiate that fight after Shakur defends his WBC lightweight title against Floyd Schofield and then William Zepeda.

Tank surprised fans today by announcing that 2025 will be his last in the sport, as he’ll be retiring at the end of the year. He says he’ll fight three times next year and then hang up the gloves. So, His Excellency Turki is going to set a fight between Tank and Shakur; it will need to happen next year,
Turki’s Master Plan
For the Tank-Shakur fight to happen, Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) will need to defeat the unbeaten Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) had #1 Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs). Those aren’t exactly sure-thing wins for Shakur, who is not a puncher and doesn’t look like he’s designed power-wise for the 135-lb division.
“The situation with Shakur is [William] Zepeda is injured. My plan is for Shakur is what I want to see in my life. I hope I have the time to see it. For Shakur, my plan is this fight [Floyd Schofield], then Zepeda, and then let’s see if Tank wants to be in our show,” said His Excellency Turki Alalshikh to Ariel Helwani’s channel on YouTube about his interest in matching Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.
“He asked me officially on social media for two Ferraris. I think the two Ferraris are much cheaper than what I pay for some fighters. If this is the cost of the fight, why not?” said Turki about Tank Davis previously asking him for two Ferrari’s before he’d consider fighting on one of his cards.
Tank will need to want the fight with Shakur because he’s routinely shied away from taking risky fights during his eleven-year professional career. He never fought Vasily Lomachenko or showed interest in fighting Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney. Tank is already rich and has enough money to live the remainder of his life in his high-rise apartment in Baltimore. Will he agree to fight Shakur? You’d like to think so, but his avoidance track record says otherwise.
