Taylor Swift Refused ‘SNL50’ Invite Because Of Blake Lively

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively‘s friendship has seemingly hit a roadblock as insiders have revealed the singer declined an invitation to “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary because the latter was going to be present.

Sources previously suggested Swift was stepping back from Lively, and if this recent update is anything to go by, she seems to be keeping to that resolve.

Trouble began in the former best friends’ friendship after Justin Baldoni name-dropped the “Blank Space” signer in his lawsuit against Lively, claiming she used the pop star to intimidate him in a meeting with her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

Swift and Lively’s friendship is being tested following the fallout from Baldoni’s legal battle with the latter.

An insider has revealed that the former BFFs are struggling to move on from the drama, with Swift maintaining her distance from Lively.

The source told the Daily Mail, “Taylor is not communicating with Blake. She was invited to SNL50 but with Blake there – and Kim Kardashian – it was the last place on earth she would be seen.”

In addition to keeping her distance from Lively, Swift is reportedly scrutinizing her close friendships and how she can avoid “external factors” from negatively affecting her reputation.

A second insider told the outlet, “Taylor is taking stock of which of her friends are good for her and who name drops her for personal gain after Blake-gate.”

They added, “She has a new album in the works and is shocked by how much drama she was pulled into. She won’t let external factors hurt her career.”

The recent update from sources is similar to revelations made by insiders in January after Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively.

In his lawsuit, Baldoni claimed Swift showed up at a meeting with Lively and Reynolds to discuss edits to a rooftop scene in “It Ends with Us.” He also claimed Swift made him feel “he needed to comply with Blake’s direction for the script.”

Baldoni also claimed Lively compared herself to “Game of Thrones” character Khaleesi in a series of texts in which she seemingly threatened him, referring to Reynolds and Swift as her dragons.

That description was the last straw for Swift, who didn’t take it well and never planned to attend the meeting but arrived at Lively’s penthouse in New York while it was ongoing.

An insider told Daily Mail that Swift decided to withdraw from Lively following Baldoni’s claims. They shared, “For the time being she is taking a step back from Blake because she doesn’t want to get tangled in this more than she already has – which is far more than she ever needed to be.”

The insider also revealed that Swift’s friends didn’t like how Lively described herself as “Khaleesi” while referring to the songstress as one of her “dragons” in her text to Baldoni.

The insider continued, “Taylor shouldn’t even be involved in this at all. She was only going over to visit Blake and Ryan with the understanding that the meeting would be over.”

Another source disclosed that Swift didn’t like her name being mentioned in Baldoni and Lively’s legal battle.

They added, “Taylor has politely backed away from it all. She is conscious of her own image and hates that she was even mentioned.”

Signs of the broken-down nature of Swift and Lively’s friendship were noticed during the Super Bowl.

Another source told Daily Mail, “Blake is not attending the Super Bowl with [Swift]. Blake has not left the house since this started practically. Taylor wants nothing to do with this trial and court case.”

Lively didn’t take her omission from Swift’s Super Bowl guest list the wrong way as she didn’t plan to attend.

The actress, who was pictured with Swift and her crew at the 2024 edition, reportedly didn’t want to “overshadow” Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s “big night.”

A source told the Daily Mail, “Taylor is not shading Blake [nor] is she trying to teach her a lesson. It isn’t like that. Even if Taylor did invite Blake, Blake would not come.”

They added, “She would never want to make Taylor’s big night – where she is going to see the love of her life play in another Super Bowl – about her. Blake would not want to overshadow Taylor ever.”
