Team India coach shockingly QUITS midway through India vs England T20I series

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that Sairaj Bahutule has stepped down from his role. The former India and Mumbai leg-spinner longer will be serving as a bowling coach at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Bahutule has stepped down from the role of the bowling coach at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru due to “personal reasons.” This comes in the middle of the ongoing five-match T20I series between the India National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team.

Sairaj Bahutule joined the India’s National Cricket Academy as a bowling coach in November 2021

Bahutule joined the National Cricket Academy as a bowling coach in November 2021 and, since then, has done a lot of good things for the India National Cricket Team. The former Mumbai spinner worked at the grassroots level and helped a lot of young players at the BCCI’s COE.

Bahutule also served as the bowling coach of the India National Cricket Team for a short span of time after the T20 World Cup 2024. This was because Morne Morkel’s appointment as a bowling coach was delayed, and he filled in the role during the white-ball series against Sri Lanka National Cricket.

Bahutule confirms his resignation as the bowling coach

Bahutule also confirmed his resignation as the bowling coach at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. He said that he had to opt out due to family reasons and expressed his gratitude towards the higher authorities for giving him the opportunity.

He said that he thoroughly enjoyed my three-year tenure at the NCA/COE. He concluded by saying that his services as the bowling coach will always be available for the BCCI. Speaking to the Times of India, he explained:

Enjoyed my three-year tenure at the NCA/COE, and my services as a bowling coach will forever be available for the BCCI – Sairaj Bahutule

“Yes, I have quit the COE due to personal/family reasons. I am thankful to former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, BCCI, Rahul Dravid (previous head of COE) and VVS (current head of COE) for giving me the opportunity to work with India’s top spinners across formats.

“I was with the India/India A and India Under-19 teams in at least 20 series/tours. I thoroughly enjoyed my three-year tenure at the NCA/COE, and my services as a bowling coach will forever be available for the BCCI.”

Bahutule played two Tests and eight ODIs for India and took five wickets between 1997-2003. The former Mumbai player featured in 188 first-class matches, in which he took a staggering 630 wickets and scored 6,176 runs.
