The reality TV star reflected on the changes in her relationship and how she stopped trying to fix things. The 43-year-old admitted that over the years, her relationship with Arroyave had shifted significantly, particularly after they had children.
By the time Arroyave was ready to make efforts to repair their marriage, Mellencamp said she had already distanced herself emotionally. “I would say probably at the point in time Edwin was ready to start working on it and really change, I probably stopped,” she confessed.
Mellencamp revealed on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show” podcast that she had “checked out” long before their divorce was finalized.

Looking back, the mother-of-three admitted she never communicated her feelings to her now ex-husband. She also noted that as Arroyave tried to make changes in his life, she felt “resentment or animosity or fear of ever being open again.”

“Me and Edwin have had some of the most amazing years and the most amazing times,” she recalled. Reflecting on their connection when they first met, Mellencamp described it as “hot” and full of chemistry.
“It was all the things,” she said, adding, “And then, you know, there’d be somebody else. And then I’d be like, ‘It’s OK, I can work through it. I’m going to make him love me more,’ you know, whatever it was.”

However, as the years went on, challenges began to surface, leading Mellencamp’s desire to repair their marriage to fade. She pinpointed the most challenging times of their relationship to the period following the birth of their children, particularly when IVF struggles weighed on them.

The emotional reflection continued as she revealed the joy of welcoming her own children with Arroyave. “I may be far from perfect but being a mother has been the greatest gift you could have given me. Thank you always and forever,” she wrote.
