Teddi Mellencamp Recalls Checking Out Of Her Marriage

Teddi Mellencamp is reflecting on her marriage to Edwin Arroyave, recalling the moment she stopped trying to fix their relationship before deciding to end it. 

Despite her recent reflections, it is notable that amid their divorce, the “Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” Alum sent a gesture of gratitude to her estranged husband.

Teddi Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave in 2024 following allegations of infidelity, including a rumored affair with her married horse trainer.

The reality TV star reflected on the changes in her relationship and how she stopped trying to fix things. The 43-year-old admitted that over the years, her relationship with Arroyave had shifted significantly, particularly after they had children.

By the time Arroyave was ready to make efforts to repair their marriage, Mellencamp said she had already distanced herself emotionally. “I would say probably at the point in time Edwin was ready to start working on it and really change, I probably stopped,” she confessed.

Mellencamp revealed on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show” podcast that she had “checked out” long before their divorce was finalized.

Looking back, the mother-of-three admitted she never communicated her feelings to her now ex-husband. She also noted that as Arroyave tried to make changes in his life, she felt “resentment or animosity or fear of ever being open again.”

While taking a look back at her 13-year marriage to the father of her children, Mellencamp acknowledged both the highs and lows that led to its eventual end. Despite their rocky divorce, the podcast host fondly remembered the passionate early years of their relationship.

“Me and Edwin have had some of the most amazing years and the most amazing times,” she recalled. Reflecting on their connection when they first met, Mellencamp described it as “hot” and full of chemistry.

“It was all the things,” she said, adding, “And then, you know, there’d be somebody else. And then I’d be like, ‘It’s OK, I can work through it. I’m going to make him love me more,’ you know, whatever it was.”

However, as the years went on, challenges began to surface, leading Mellencamp’s desire to repair their marriage to fade. She pinpointed the most challenging times of their relationship to the period following the birth of their children, particularly when IVF struggles weighed on them.

This is not the first time she has spoken fondly of her relationship with Arroyave since their divorce. In 2024, amid their ongoing separation, The Blast noted that Mellencamp took to social media to share a heartfelt post acknowledging the man who helped shape her journey into motherhood. 

In a post that featured multiple photos spanning their decade-long relationship, she began with a nostalgic caption that read, “I will forever be grateful for that night at Coco Deville.” 

She credited her bond with Arroyave’s daughter, Isabella, for changing her life, explaining how their connection opened her eyes to her own desire to become a mother.

The emotional reflection continued as she revealed the joy of welcoming her own children with Arroyave. “I may be far from perfect but being a mother has been the greatest gift you could have given me. Thank you always and forever,” she wrote.

Despite her kind words, it is worth noting that Mellencamp was not living with Arroyave at the time. Instead she was temporarily staying at Richards’ house.

She revealed this surprising detail during the debut episode of her new podcast, stating, “So I live at Kyle’s.” Her co-host, Erika Jayne, was especially shocked, reacting, “Do you really? Holy sh-t!”

Mellencamp joked about crashing in Richards’ “glam room” and even suggested filming their podcast from there. However, the arrangement is not as unconventional as it may seem. 

Mellencamp clarified that she and Arroyave were “nesting,”a term she explained meant their kids stay in the family home while she and her estranged husband alternate moving in and out.

In another development, the accountability coach opted for a Thanksgiving with family, skipping celebrations with Arroyave. Instead, the star and her kids gathered at her father, John Mellencamp’s home, while her ex-husband spent the holiday with his eldest daughter, Isabella.

This arrangement came after the former couple finalized their child custody agreement. Mellencamp had initially sought full custody of their children before they reached a mutual decision to share custody.
