Chasing a challenging target of 187, the Hurricanes rode on Tim David’s scintillating knock to register their fourth consecutive win of the season.
Adelaide Strikers sets a competitive total
After electing to bat first, the Strikers posted a formidable total of 186/5, thanks to contributions from Chris Lynn (49 off 27) and Alex Ross (47 off 29). Lynn’s aggressive start included five fours and three sixes, while Ross anchored the middle overs with six fours and a maximum. Ollie Pope chipped in with a steady 33 off 27, ensuring a solid platform for the lower order. Jamie Overton provided the late fireworks with a quick 27 not out off 18 balls.
Hobart’s bowlers had a mixed outing. Waqar Salamkheil was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2/22 in his two overs, while Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake bagged a wicket apiece. Chris Jordan endured a tough night, conceding 46 runs in his four overs but managed to pick up a crucial wicket of Ross.

In response, the Hurricanes made a flying start with Mitchell Owen playing a fiery knock of 37 in just 16 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes. Matthew Wade also contributed 27 off 18, setting the stage for the middle order. However, the home team lost the wickets of Shai Hope (11) and Ben McDermott (17) cheaply.
It was Tim David who turned the game on its head with an explosive 62 not out off just 28 balls, featuring three fours and six towering sixes. Coming in during a tense phase of the match, David dominated the bowlers with a breathtaking display of power-hitting. His partnership with Nikhil Chaudhary (22 off 22) steadied the innings before he unleashed a flurry of boundaries to take the game away from the Strikers. Jordan sealed the victory with a boundary, as the Hurricanes chased down the target in just 18.4 overs.

For the Strikers, Cameron Boyce stood out with figures of 2/23 in his four overs, while Lloyd Pope also picked up two wickets but proved expensive, conceding 38 runs. Henry Thornton was the only other bowler to claim a wicket, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain the Hurricanes’ batting firepower.
