“Too Much, Too Strong, Too Fast” – Dubois Promises To Overwhelm Parker

Joseph Parker warned IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois today that he’s making a mistake by looking ahead to their February 22nd fight for bigger matches.

Awkward Exchange

Dubois and Parker seemed uncomfortable trash-talking today because that’s neither their style nor their quick wits. You could see the wheels spinning as they tried to think of things to say in response to remarks. It was painful to watch.

These two could have used a hidden earpiece to feed them lines in times like these, as U.S. politicians do during debates.

The challenger Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) and Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) met today for the press conference for their fight next month on the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Parker alluded to Dubois, 27, looking ahead by jumping into the ring after the December 21st rematch between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury to call out Oleksandr sheepishly.

Don’t Underestimate

Joseph Parker: “You might be looking too far ahead for other big fights. You’ve got a big fight ahead of you right now,” said Joseph Parker to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois during today’s press conference.

Daniel Dubois: “I’ve got my mind firmly set on you.”

Parker: “It better be.”

Dubois: “I’ll be too much for him. Too much, too strong, and too fast. Everything he does, I’m going to do better. I’m confident. I don’t have to say too much and do too much talking. Let the fans tune in. It’s going to be a great fight.”

Parker: “I’ve been boxing for a while now, but I feel I’ve got everything right now. You’re in for a treat.”

Dubois: “I’ll teach you a few things in there. Since you first started, I’ll teach you a few lessons with some new skills.”

Parker: “I’m looking forward to it. Bring it on.”

Dubois: “He’s always been like that, a nice guy. But once the bell goes, we’re going to try and take each other’s heads off.”

Parker: “I like he’s full of confidence. He’s sky-high at the moment, but it’s all going to stop on the 22nd of February. Let’s go.”

Dubois: “Nah,” said Daniel when asked if he had a final message for Parker.
