Tottenham confirm Radu Dragusin has suffered ACL setback

Tottenham have confirmed defender Radu Dragusin has suffered an injury to an anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season.

The Romania international sustained the injury on Thursday after replacing Micky van de Ven in the Europa League clash with Elfsborg.

He missed the win at Brentford on Sunday with boss Ange Postecoglou admitting afterwards the injury did “not look good”.

And Spurs announced this morning that the 23-year-old is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The club wrote on X: “We can confirm that Radu Dragusin will undergo surgery for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.

“Radu will be assessed by our medical team to determine when he can return to training.

“We’re all with you, Radu.”

Season ruined by injuries

It is another injury blow for Postecoglou, whose squad has been decimated for much of the season, particularly in defensive areas.

Van de Ven’s return is welcome although Cristian Romero remains sidelined along with left-back Destiny Udogie.

Spurs signed Austria defender Kevin Danso from Lens in the January window but had a bid for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi rejected yesterday.

The North London side go to Liverpool on Thursday in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, leading 1-0 from the first game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
