In the Wednesday, November 20, episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Travis Kelce was completely shocked and horrified by the existence of a mayonnaise-eating contest.
“Honestly, dude, a hot dog-eating contest might be a nightmare,” Travis, 35, admitted to brother Jason Kelce during the recording. “I think I’ve actually woken up in, like, a dead sweat out of sleep one time because I was in a hot dog-eating contest against my will. I mean, just the smell and you’re stuffing yourself until you have to vomit, and then I already have to vomit because of the texture — oh, God.”
Jason, 36, then asked whether his brother had heard of a similar contest with mayo.
“Nobody would ever do that!” Travis quipped. “That’s not [a real thing]. I just got chills. I did have lunch, Jason, I don’t want to do this.”
Jason then explained that he’s previously seen people eat five jars of the condiment, going so far as to ask their podcast producer Brandon to show a clip while filming the episode.
“I don’t want to watch it,” Travis exclaimed, making gagging sounds and turning his head away from the screen.
Jason felt the same, telling his younger sibling, “I don’t even get queasy, and this is disgusting. I’m kind of, like, tricking myself and thinking she’s eating yogurt. I’m like, ‘OK, it’s actually vanilla pudding.’ That’s the only way I can be comfortable … [by] fooling myself.”
Travis, however, couldn’t even think that way and put his hand up to block the screen.
“The texture is disgusting,” he added. “Oh, my gosh, that is so gross. Get it out of here, dude … that’s just foul.”
Travis continued, “This is, like, Fear Factor, man. I’m sweating now, goddammit. … This is, like, nails on a chalkboard, dude!”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end then called out Brandon for sharing the video, adding, “You just put me on a roller-coaster, Brandon. I feel like I got f—ing tossed around the room, man. … That was so unsanitary.”
Jason subsequently advised any audio-only “New Heights” listeners to “do yourselves a favor” and skip watching the video version of the episode on YouTube.
Travis had long been a picky eater, but girlfriend Taylor Swift recently helped expand his palette.
“Dude, you know I’m starting to open up to the lean cuisine,” Jason told Travis on an October podcast episode. “My girl Tay is getting you opened up. She’s introducing new foods to you, and it’s become one of the greatest things that I’ve been happy about.”
