The Kansas City Star shared a clip of the trio’s exchange, where Travis reminisced about his history with New Orleans.

“Take me back to my old New Orleans home. I owe New Orleans a little something…” Travis said, referencing his past experience in the city. Swift playfully pressed him, asking if he meant the 2010 Sugar Bowl, to which the tight end nodded.

“Yeah, no going to Bourbon Street,” the singer warned with a smile, as Donna chimed in agreement. “Yeah, I won’t be having as much fun that night,” Travis assured them, pulling Swift closer by the waist.

Travis jokingly promised to avoid any “[hand] grenades,” the infamous New Orleans cocktail made with vodka, rum, gin, and melon liqueur. His reference was a nod to his time in the city during the 2010 Sugar Bowl, when he was suspended from the University of Cincinnati football team after testing positive for marijuana.

In a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, Travis reflected on the incident, admitting, “I was down in New Orleans, listening to Lil Wayne, and I wanted to smoke what he was smoking.” The suspension left him feeling embarrassed and defeated. “I just wanted to get out of there. I was so embarrassed, I didn’t want to look at anybody,” he shared.

The experience nearly ended his football career, but with the guidance of his brother, Jason Kelce, Travis turned his life around and became one of the NFL’s top players.
