Trisha Gongadi script history in ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup with unbeaten ton


India continued their dominance in the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. The Indian girls recorded the massive 150-run win over Scotland in their final Super Six match of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (January 28).

Trisha Gongadi was the standout performer for India U19, as she scored the first-ever century in the tournament and also scalped three wickets for just six runs in her two overs to help her team beat Scotland comprehensively in the Super Six encounter at the Bayuemas Oval.

With her unbeaten century, Trisha Gongadi made history by becoming the first-ever batter to score a hundred in the history of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup. Trisha reached her century in just 53 balls and raised her arms in celebration with joy and excitement.

Speaking about the match, the Indian team came out aggressively with openers Gongadi and G Kamalini taking charge from the start against Scotland after losing the toss. Trisha and Kamalini put together a brilliant 147-run partnership for the first wicket in just 13.3 overs.

Kamalini scored 51 runs off 42 balls, including nine fours, before getting out. However, Gongadi continued her fantastic innings and set the world record with her hundred in the tournament. Trisha finished her remarkable innings with an unbeaten 110 runs off 59 balls, studded with 13 fours and four sixes against Scotland at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

India vs Scotland Match Highlight

She was well supported by Sanika Chalke, who made not out on 29 with five fours, as the India U19 side set a massive target of 208 runs in their 20 overs. Maisie Maceira was the standout bowler for Scotland, taking the only wicket to fall while conceding 25 runs in four overs against India.

Later, the India U19 women’s team came out even stronger, as they bundled out Scotland for just 58 runs in 14 overs to win the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 Super Six match by 150 runs at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur to confirm their semifinals qualification.

Aayushi Shukla took four wickets for India, while Vaishnavi Sharma claimed three in the one-sided affair. Gongadi finished off the match with three wickets to complete her memorable all-round performance, which earned her the Player of the Match award.

Bangladesh crushes West Indies; South Africa vs USA match washed out

Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Bangladesh wrapped up their campaign with a dominant 10-wicket win over the West Indies. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first at Bayuemas Oval, Bangladesh’s bowlers put on a clinical performance.

Bangladesh restricted the West Indies to just 54/6 in their 13 overs, with Nishita Akter Nishi picking up three wickets and Anisa Akter Soba claiming two. Chasing a small target, Bangladesh easily reached the required runs within nine overs, and they moved up to third place in Group 1.

On the other hand, in a Group 2 encounter, the match between South Africa and the USA was abandoned due to heavy rain in Sarawak. South Africa had already secured their spot in the semi-finals, while the USA earned a point and moved into third place in the group.
