UConn’s Paige Bueckers hilariously recalls her battle with pig at the Bahamas trip

UConn star Paige Bueckers shared her battle with a pig in The Bahamas while on an excursion with her team on the island country. In an interview with CT Insider’s Maggie Vanoni, the senior guard detailed the Huskies’ adventures during their free time.

Bueckers told Vanoni about a close encounter she had with a local pig.

“One [pig] attacked my back, but I lived to tell the tale,” Bueckers said on Monday.

The Huskies played their last two games in The Bahamas, as part of the Continental Tire Baha Mar Women’s Championship tournament, which they won.

“The Huskies got their first big excursion outside of the resort on Thanksgiving Day,” Vanoni wrote. “They took a bus across the East Bridge to Paradise Island and from there, jumped on a boat tour that took them to one of the smaller islands to swim with and feed local pigs.”

Fortunately, Paige Bueckers emerged unscathed from the encounter. UConn fans are likely eager for video evidence of this incident to surface soon.

Paige Bueckers and the UConn women stay undefeated

The No. 2-ranked UConn Huskies’ dominance has been evident in their performances this season. They have a 6-0 record, including impressive victories over two ranked teams: then-No. 14-ranked North Carolina and No. 18-ranked Ole Miss.

What’s even more remarkable is that none of their wins were close as every game was decided by at least 11 points.

The Huskies are considered a top contender for the 2025 NCAA national championship, which doesn’t come as a shock to those familiar with their program. They are led by Geno Auriemma. who is the all-time winningest coach in Division I basketball and has guided the Huskies to 11 NCAA titles.

UConn is loaded with talent. Its roster features standout players, including Paige Bueckers, who is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA draft.

Bueckers is joined by Azzi Fudd, another star expected to be a top five draft pick, and Sarah Strong, a promising freshman who is already in the conversation for National Freshman of the Year honors.

Those three, along with other elite players, make the Huskies a formidable force this season. They will be back in action on Tuesday when they face Holy Cross.
