Vinod Kambli receives strong message from World Cup winner amid health issues


Former Indian batter Vinod Kambli has been dominating the headlines for the past few days due to his health issues. He is currently recovering from multiple health issues at Akruti Hospital in Thane, where he was admitted on December 21.

Akruti Hospital’s Dr. Vivek Trivedi informed PTI that Vinod Kambli was in a critical condition four days ago due to a severe urinary infection, which led to pus accumulating in his bladder. The pus was successfully removed after he was admitted to the hospital.

The doctor also revealed that the former Indian cricketer has blood clots in his brain and is also suffering from hypokalemia, which means the presence of an excess of potassium in the blood.

This issue Kambli may be facing is due to heart problems, as he suffered two heart attacks in 2013. However, it is being said that the former Mumbai cricketer is stable now but is kept under observation at Akruti Hospital in Thane.

Amid the well-wishes and concerns among the well-known personalities, the 1983 World Cup winner Madan Lal sent a strong message to Vinod Kambli. Madan Lal urged Vinod Kambli to prioritize his health and take responsibility for overcoming his challenges.

The former Indian cricketer also emphasized that Kambli must take responsibility for his struggles and focus on overcoming his challenges by himself. Madan Lal posted on X: “My humble request to Vinod Kamble is to look after yourself; nobody going to care; you have to fight your own battle.”

Shrikant Shinde announces INR 5 Lakh financial aid for Vinod Kambli’s treatment

Ever since Kambli’s health issue came to light, many have been coming forward to help the sick cricketer, including the 1983 World Cup winners. Recently, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Shrikant Shinde Foundation offered support to former Indian cricketers.

Following Eknath Shinde’s instructions, Mangesh Chiwte, his officer on special duty (OSD), visited the hospital to check on Kambli’s health and spoke with the medical staff to ensure he received the best care.

Additionally, Shrikant Shinde, the Kalyan MP, has announced a financial aid of INR 5 lakh for Kambli, which will be provided through the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation next week.

It is known to the cricket world that Kambli was once celebrated as one of India’s brightest cricketing talents and for his aggressive batting, but his journey was dampened and overshadowed by controversies and his unfortunate habits.

Even Kambli has openly admitted his struggle with alcohol addiction and revealed that he has undergone rehabilitation 14 times, as he used to drink heavily then. Apart from his alcohol addiction, Kambli has faced numerous controversies over the years, involving legal and personal issues.

He has been booked for allegedly assaulting his wife, Andrea Hewitt, and was arrested for driving while consuming alcohol and crashing into another vehicle. Kambli also stirred headlines by accusing former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin and others of match-fixing during the 1996 World Cup.

Additionally, Vinod Kambli faced discrimination within the Indian cricket team, and even he was not helped by his own childhood friend, Sachin Tendulkar, during his tough times.
