Domination from MI Cape Town

Royals invited MI Cape Town to bat first hoping that a set target would increase their chances of reaching the finals of the league. However, on the contrary, Cape Town got off to a solid start due to a remarkable partnership between openers Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen. The two batters added 87 runs between them and provided the team a platform to reach a gigantic total in the all-important clash.

After the openers were dismissed by Dunith Wellalage and Dayyaan Galiem respectively, it was time for the middle order batters to carry on the momentum and hit some powerful strokes. Brevis did exactly that during his unbeatable knock of 44 runs off 30 balls in which he sent the ball out of the park 4 times. The Royals bowling unit had no answer to the incoming onslaught from Brevis. A team effort from the Cape Town enabled them to reach a competitive total of 199/4 in 20 overs.

After they had set a grand total against Royals, it was time for the bowling unit to display their prowess and sail their team through their maiden final in the league. A disciplined and determined bowling effort from Cape Town bowlers bowled out Royals on just 160 runs thus ensuring a win for the team in blue and golden shades by 39 runs.

Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, skipper Rashid Khan and Corbin Bosch all contributed with the ball and clinched 2 Royals’ wickets respectively. With this majestic win over Royals, Cape Town have secured a place in the final of the competition while Royals have to take their chances in a do-or-die clash in Qualifier 2.
