WATCH: Imran Tahir takes a stunning catch to dismiss Wiaan Mulder in SA20 2025; electrifies the crowd with his celebratory run

Imran Tahir is known in the cricketing world not just for his remarkable leg spin bowling but also for his celebratory ruins and charged up personality. Fans saw a glimpse of the same once again during the encounter between Joburg Super Kings and Durban Super Giants in the 8th encounter of SA20 2025 at the Kingsmead, Durban.

Imran Tahir’s remarkable dive sent Wiaan Mulder back to the pavilion

The incident occurred during the 7th over of the Super Giants innings. The home side was 2 wickets down with 51 runs on the board and desperately needed a partnership to sail through the run chase. Quinton De Kock showed promising signs with the bat but he needed support on the other side to continue getting runs for his team. However, on the third delivery of the over, Wiaan Mulder attempted a reverse sweep in an attempt to get some runs on the board and avoid an economical over. The ball sailed towards point where Tahir was deployed. The 45-year-old dived to his right and took a firm grip on the ball.

The celebration from Tahir was equally sensational. He went on to a celebratory run all charged up and made a breathtaking move of his own to celebrate his catch and another fall of wicket.

A disciplined bowling effort from Super Kings restricted Super Giants

Super Kings had a solid start with the bat after winning the toss and opting to bat first. A decent partnership between opener Devon Conway and Leus du Plooy put them in a comfortable position. However, the continuous fall of wickets did trouble the visitors. The Super Giants bowling unit did manage to restrict the incoming run flow but could not stop Super Kings from reaching to a respectable total of 169 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

In response, the home side couldn’t put together a decent partnership. The entire Super Giants batting unit failed to leave a mark apart from De Kock and Heinrich Klassen who scored 55 and 29 runs respectively. In the end, the Super Giants were bowled out for 141 with 12 balls remaining and JSK won the match by 28 runs.
It was a combined bowling effort from the Super Kings. While Gerald Coetzee, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Donovan Ferreira took 2 wickets each, David Weise, Tahir and Matheesa Pathirana had 1 wicket to their names.
