[Watch] Marnus Labuschagne bowls a searing bouncer at Pat Cummins during net session ahead of 1st AUS vs IND 2024 Test

Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne bowled a wild bouncer to Pat Cummins in the nets amid preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth. The former has been vocal about his seam-up bowling ability, having honed his skills during the build-up to the home summer.

Labuschagne was primarily a pure batter, with a part-time leg-spin bowling ability. He has increased his bowling load lately, particularly during his time in England. He was a reliable option for Glamorgan in county cricket and played a huge role with his spin bowling during Australia’s white-ball tour of England recently.

He bowled spells of fast bowling while leading Queensland in the Sheffield Shield and has been making a case for being the fourth seam bowling option following Cameron Green’s unavailability and Mitchell Marsh’s injury record.

Cummins was forced to duck and move his head out of the way against Labuschagne’s bouncer in nets.

Labucschagne had bowled in the recent white-ball series against Pakistan, but it was only a one-over spell, where he dismissed opposition skipper Mohammad Rizwan.

Australia’s No. 3 rolling in bowling bouncers to Virat Kohli, I think people want to see that” – Marnus Labuschagne

In his recent appearance on The Grade Cricketer, Labuschagne acknowledged he can hit the 135 kph mark while bowling seam-up. He is becoming a serious candidate to bowl a short burst to relieve the pace trio.

“What are you going to get there? Are you going to get the number three of Australia rolling in bowling bouncers to Virat Kohli? I think people want to see that. You want to see, can you play on someone’s ego? Are you going to be ducking bouncers from Marnus?” Labuschagne said on The Grade Cricketer.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin on Friday, November 22. The first Test will take place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
