Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith’s Record in Tests This Year

Australia’s strong batting lineup, which played a key role in their World Test Championship (WTC) victory in the previous cycle, is now facing challenges. The retirement of David Warner and underwhelming performances from Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have left the team in a difficult position.

Marnus Labuschagne has struggled with the bat in 2024. He recorded eight single-digit scores in the year. The right-handed batter scored just 245 runs in six Tests at an average of 24.50, with three fifties. Overall, Labuschagne has scored 780 runs in 11 Tests against India, including a century and three fifties.

In 2024, Steve Smith has scored 230 runs in six Test matches at an average of 25.56, with just one half-century. However, the former Australia skipper has an outstanding record against India, having scored 2,059 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 62.39, which includes nine centuries and five half-centuries.

The second Test match between India and Australia will be played at the Adelaide Oval, starting on Friday, December 6. It will be played with a pink ball in day-night conditions.
