Whether you’re in the mood for tragedy or comedy, you can find a little of everything amid this week’s new streaming releases. On Netflix, you can catch Kate Hudson in the new sports comedy Running Point, as well as the release of Venom: The Last Dance and the new drama series Toxic Town.
If real-life documentaries are you’re thing, this week is full of them, from Peacock’s Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy to Hulu’s Devil In The Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, both tragic tales that are ripped from the headlines.
You can also catch the Oscars airing live for the first time on Hulu on Sunday, March 2, starting at 7 p.m. ET (they’ll be broadcast on ABC, too).

Best new TV shows and movies to stream

Netflix
Mindy Kaling had massive success with her past sitcoms, including The Office, The Mindy Project and Never Have I Ever, and she’s bringing that experience to her newest series, Running Point. The new series stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, a Los Angeles executive who finds herself unexpectedly running the family business, a professional basketball team called the Los Angeles Waves. The cast of the new comedy is rounded out by Brenda Song, Max Greenfield, Drew Tarver and Scott MacArthur.
Venom: The Last Dance (Feb. 25)
Netflix has picked up one of Sony Pictures’ biggest hits of the past year, Venom: The Last Dance, the final film in the Venom trilogy, and it arrives on Feb. 25. Tom Hardy reprises his role as journalist Eddie Brock and Brock’s alter ego, Venom, who face an existential crisis when they’re pursued by a creature known as a Xenophage who is trying to free Knull (Andy Serkis), the creator of the symbiotes, from the prison he’s trapped in.
Toxic Town is a new four-part British series based on the true story of the Corby toxic waste lawsuit. Residents of the town of Corby brought a case against their city after it redeveloped the site of a former steel mill, knowingly depositing tons of toxic waste into the town. The resulting spilled waste led to an increase in birth defects. The new series stars Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood and Claudia Jessie, and is the story of three mothers whose environmental court case helped bring a small sense of justice to their community.

Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke (Feb. 27)
Ruby Franke was a popular vlogger with millions of followers on YouTube who watched as she dispatched stories and parenting advice on her channel, 8 Passengers. That is until she was arrested, along with her producing partner, for child abuse. In the new Hulu docuseries, Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, Franke’s former husband, Kevin, and her two oldest children speak on Ruby’s abusive habits and her ambitions for fame at the expense of the most vulnerable people in her orbit, her children. The three-part series arrives Feb. 27.
Dragon Ball Daima finale (Feb. 28)
Animé fans will want to tune in this week when the season finale of Dragon Ball Daima airs on Hulu and Crunchyroll on Feb. 28. The series is the sixth in the Dragon Ball franchise and has been filled with wild plot twists and reveals, including a major character transformation arriving in the season’s penultimate episode, so fans won’t want to miss the season’s big finish.

Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy (Feb. 25)
Peacock has been working hard on the slate of original documentaries about the dark side of Hollywood, from Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy to Making Manson, about Charles Manson. This week, it will release Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, an in-depth look at the Friends star’s rise to fame, his drug addiction and his eventual death. Perry’s friends and cast mates, as well as law enforcement speak on the tragic situation that led to his death.Â

No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski (Feb. 24)
Fans of Queer Eye, rejoice. Antoni Porowski has his own new show. The new series No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski will feature Queer Eye’s resident culinary expert-slash-crossbody bag lover alongside celebrities like Florence Pugh, Awkwafina, James Marsden and Issa Rae, as they travel to lands representing the celebs’ ancestral and culinary roots. The first episode, titled “Florence Pugh’s English Odyssey,” airs on NatGeo on Feb. 23 and streams on Feb. 24 on Disney Plus and Hulu.
