On Monday, January 6, Dr. Umar took to Instagram to share a photo and lengthy message with his followers. Furthermore, the image featured an image of himself dressed in traditional clothing with text that read in part, “…CITIZEN OF GHANA 1.6.25”

In the caption of his post, Dr. Umar shared his excitement and gratitude.

“… Although I am by no means the first Diasporan Afrikan to receive citizenship on The Mother Continent, I may very well be the most prominent PanAfrikanist to have done so thus far in the 21st century. For the Prince of Panafrikanism to be awarded legal citizenship in Afrika changes completely and forever the narrative and direction of the global PanAfrikan movement, and will reenergize Afrikan consciousness worldwide,” he wrote in part.
